In the "Tools-Options-General" dialog box,the
"most recently used documents"option is gray.
How can I enable it?
Thanks!

Do you clear your temp files? Or maybe you use something like Ad-Aware or
Spybot that does it for you?

I have tried to clear the temp files,
but there is no effect.
Spybot has been installed in my computer for
a long time.I do not think it has relation
to this problem.I have another try.I used
"winword /safe " command to start Word into
Safe Mode and the option is enabled in this
mode. Could you explain the difference between
the Safe Mode and the Normal Mode?

If you have used TweakUI to suppress the MRU list on the Start menu, this
will affect Word as well.
