How do I import Outlook files to Outlook Express from files saved.
My hardrive crashed and they were able to, at least it appears, have been
able to save my Outlook files. But now I can't get Outlook to install and need to import those files to Outlook Express but it won't recognize the files. What can I do? Better yet would be to get Outlook to install. Any ideas? |

The message that keeps popping up says "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook.
MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version. This could have been caused by installing other messaging software. Please reinstall Outlook. I have a friend that knows a lot more than I about this sort of thing and he even went home and brought a mapi32.dll from his and tried it and it still would not work. He checked mine against his and they appear the same. We tried to reinstall using his dll and then the original dll again and it will not take. So I am at wits end. I really would like to have Outlook up and running because Outlook Express is not easily backed up or at least I have not found it to be easy. Thanks for any help you can give me. Hi Steady,
please try this Rename Mapi32.dll 1. Quit Outlook. 2. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders. 3. Type Mapi32.dll in the Named box. 4. In Look In, click to select My Computer, and click Find Now. 5. Right-click to select Mapi32.dll in the search results list. 6. Click Rename, type Mapi32.old, and press ENTER to accept the name change. If there are multiple copies of Mapi32.dll in the list, rename each. 7. Close the Find Files window and start Outlook. -- Ich habe nichts gemacht, gestern gings noch Join me in my Forum @ http://www.andreas-roeder.net/phpBB2/index.php "Steady" schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... Hi Andreas,
I appreciate the help and I was going to follow your directions but I guess I am really slow. First of all how can I quit Outlook, I can't get it to load. Then when I go to Start, I cannot find "Find", I am on Windows Professional XP upgraded to the level two or whatever. So now what? Andreas, I tried everything you said and the response was always the same.
So I just went and got a new system and reinstalled it all. Now Outlook works but it will not access the files I was hoping it would. Don't know what I am doing wrong there.
