Default Outlook2003 failing to launch after first launch

I am running WinXPHome on a HPDimension4550 (~2.5GHz, 1 G RAM). I have
MSOfficePro97 installed and bought MSOutlook2003 for the extra capability for
downloading POP3 e-mail. After installing it, it will run ONCE, but will not
load / run on a second launch without either reinstalling it or "repairing"
it; the hourglass is up for 10-15 seconds and returns to the regular cursor
with no launch. I have tried different levels of installation, from minimal
to complete: no difference except with the complete installation,
CiceroUIWndFramer refuses to shut down (apparently part of a voice and hand
recognition software not installed with lower levels of installation.).
My concern is, are Off97 and Outlook2003 "incompatible" because they are so
far apart in development versions?? Are their "common" or "shared"
components (DLLs etc) that might not be backward compatible or forward usable
that prevents the program to relaunch?? I really didn't plan to buy Off2003,
but if someone can tell me that's what I need to do because there is no other
solution, I will do it.

Thanks. njmeatball

The Cicero problem relates to Alternate Imput voice and hand....its a
documented problem with win2k and winxp, and can be cured by modifying the
installation to remove Alternate........
I assume you had OL97 installed did OL2003 correctly remove this during the
installation process?
Is OL2003 shown in running processes when you close OL?

Yes, Outlook2003 did remove Outlook97. I also totally removed OffPro97 and
Outlook2003, and assuming it was a layering issue, and assuming they frequent
instructions to install in pogressive order, then, after "cleaning" my
computer with CClean to fix registry entries and get rid of unneeded files, I
installed OffPro97, including the two service releases, then installed
Outlook 2003. This allowed me to run Outlook 2003, but it was very unstable
and locked up several times requiring hard restarts (powered off). The hard
restart sometines did not allow me to relaunch Outlook 2003. I repeated this
process a couple of times and then tried it with OfficePro2000 instead of
OfficePro97. This was better: multiple relaunches were OK, but it was still
unstable and locked up. I finally gave up and decided to switch to Mozilla
Thunderbird for now. I'll probably save up my money and get a copy of
OffPro2003 or Off2003 and will assume that my stand alone copy of Outlook
2003 will work with that.

The bottom line is that there appears to be a conflict between OffPro97 and
Outlook2003. I am not smart enought to know what the conflict is, but it
definitely leads to an unstable situation. IF, and it's a big IF, when I buy
and install OffPro2003, or Off2003 with my Outlook2003, and if I run into the
same kind of problems, I will have to dig deeper into the cause. I have NOT
installed WinXPHome SP2 yet. I have head some real horror stories, but I
assume by now that there are patches for the issues found in SP2 and or the
current release of SP2 has these all included already.

Thanks for getting back to me. NJmeatball 20061024

All versions of Office (o2k onwards) include OL
I ran OL2003 with O2k and had no problems, if you had problems with this
installation, then you have some other issue.

Thanks. I guess I will stick with Mozilla Thunderbird that I know is not
affected by my Microsoft Office components. Thanks again. NJmeatball
