Excel 2000 export loses long text
I have a spreadsheet in Excel 2000 on Win XP. Some extra long cells
containing lots of text do not export to my tab-delimited text file. They are exported as a series of "#" signs. In column A, some cells have lots of text, and they scroll to fill other cells to the right. These cells export fine. If the text is even long, it will display as a series of pound signs. These extra long cells export as a series of pound signs, effectively losing my data. I'm dealing with multiple spreadsheets with 3000+ lines each, so this is no small matter. How can I get the extra long text displayed as # signs, into my tab- delim text file? Thanks. Chuck R. |

Excel 2000 export loses long text
If you're seeing the #####'s in the excel worksheet, try changing the format of
those cells from Text to General (or anything but text). Excel has trouble displaying text when the cell is formatted as Text and the length is between 255 and 1024 characters.
