Default ppt2007 links

I am working on ppt2207 presentation that will be packaged for a CD. Now I
find out that the company that is publishing the CD has a file name
limitation of 8 characters.

I realize that all my files that are linked will have to be renamed but my
question is for jpg and wmv file links. Are these files embedded in the
presentation and, therefore, not exported; or are the files linked and
therefore will be exported for the CD package. In other words, all my linked
jpg files, do I need to rename them too?

Thanks,

Vic

JPG (and other picture) files are embedded (unless you specially chose
to link them). WMV files are always linked as are all video files. You
didn't mention sound files so I won't go into the details, but some are
linked and some are embedded.

David,

Thank you for your response; you just saved me a whole lot of work. Who ever
heard of an 8 character limit on file names?

"Who ever heard of an 8 character limit on file names?"

People old enough to have worked with DOS!

8.3 filename was the default in the early days of computers, when space was
at a premium on 64k machines. I'm willing to bet there are a number of users
out there still using that format
