.pst does not open correctly
Hello. Before reformatting, I made sure I copied my .pst file. Although, it
did not open correctly after going to FileOpenOutlook Data File... No error message, but non of the folders loaded. Only messages I received were 2 in my Inbox (which wasn't the original location) and all my sent items. When I made a .pst copy, it was in a personal folder. I noticed there is a .pst file called "Outlook" made by the install program, so I wonder, once folders are loaded from a personal .pst, is everything saved to that "Outlook" file? All help is appreciated. Thank you! ---Matt |

Matt,
yes all info including folders are saved in the outlook.pst file. Are you certain you copied the correct pst file? It is always a good idea to look at the date of the pst file and make sure it's recent and not an old one from the past. "Slick" wrote: Hello. Before reformatting, I made sure I copied my .pst file. Ok. But I have in the past loaded .pst files (that weren't the "Outlook.pst"
file) labeled by me. This .pst file (called "matthew") was loaded before the format in Outlook successfully. In fact, I can't recall ever using the "Outlook" file supplied by Microsoft, it has always been this matthew.pst file, being copied over. No, I believe not. I think there is one of two things happening. Either it
only saved the Inbox and Sent Items folders, or some how the other folders are being "hidden". Reason 1 seems most logical. Did you actually copy the pst file or did you export it? The folders are
definitely not hidden. "Slick" wrote: No, I believe not. I think there is one of two things happening. When looking for the .pst file to copy, did you use Windows Search and
include hidden/system folders? The default .pst file is a hidden file and not always discoverable using the normal search. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. I did not use any search. I knew where the .pst was that I have been using
for years. I thought maybe it was the Office 2003 switch so I tried loading it on to a computer running Office 2000, but no success.
