Default can't remove duplicate personal folders

I'm using Outlook 2003, connecting to my ISP via
POP3/SMTP servers, and have a duplicate Personal Folder
that I cannot remove. The Outlook Data Files option
shows just the one entry for Personal Folders, which
points to the only PST file that resides on my computer.
The format of my Personal Folder file is Outlook 97-2002
(I'm not using the new unicode supported Outlook 2003
format).

This duplicate Personal Folder behaves exactly like the
original....all subfolders within each of the 2 Personal
Folders are absolutely identical. Whenever messages are
received, they are listed and stored in each Inbox
folder...when messages are sent, they are shown passing
thru each Outbox folder and are subsequently stored in
each Sent Items folder.

I did find a similar entry in the MS Knowledgebase for
Outlook 2000 using IMO (Internet Mail Option), which
describes a problem with multiple Outlook Today folders.
The solution was to edit an affected registry key, but I
was unable to duplicate that solution with my Outlook
2003 system.

Just create a new profile from scratch. Yours is corrupt. It's easier than
editing the registry to get rid of the duplicate reference to the same PST
file.
You must have done something that caused this.
