Access 97 crashes opening a report
I've got Access 97 (and Access 2007) on Windows XP.
I have an Access 97 app mdb which links to tables in a data mdb. I have 9 reports, 3 I have added recently. Two of them are based on a query (join of 2 tables), and 1 is based directly on a table. At random intervals, these new reports cause Access 97 to crash when they open, either in Design in Preview mode. I've tried repairing the database, compacting, re-linking tables, redefining the query using design mode instead of SQL. Sometimes I will open reports 10 times in a row with no trouble, and think I've fixed it, but then it will crash again with the old "access has encountered a problem and needs to close." message. Just now I opened the reports at least 20 times, then closed Access, then re-opened it, and it crashed the first time I hit the Design button for a report. I opened Access97 again, and it worked fine! Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? (Every possible bug in Access 97 must be known by now!) Matthew Nicoll |

Matthew Nicoll A long shot but your file might be corrupt. Try importing all of your objects into a new file. Keith. www.keithwilby.co.uk |

I cut each object from the old mdb and pasted it into the new one. (A bit tedious because I had to re-type each object name.) |
