Default Pub 2007 and Numbered Lists

Hi,

I've just been trying out the Beta of Office 2007 and Publisher in
particular. There have been some improvements; the PDF integration
being the biggest. However it looks like the developers have worked on
fluffy stuff like the templates rather than useful functionality (PDF
being the exception). Here's an example of what I mean.

I'm creating a question and answer list. Each question uses a text
style that asks Publisher to apply a numbered list. The answer text
(non numbered) then follows it. I then move on to the next numbered
question and so on. Publisher refuses to continue the previous
numbering sequence because I have non numbered sections inbetween.

Ah, you say, well Publisher isn't a word processor. True, but I can
choose to edit my story in MS Word. Now I've always assumed that the
purpose of this was to integrate Publisher and Word and allow you to
use Word's rich text editing capabilities to edit your story and then
show the result in Publisher.

When I ask Publisher to edit my text in Word the (Question and Answer)
styles are brought across with it. All I have to do is right click on
the second numbered question and tell Word to `Continue Numbering' for
it to replace 1 with 2. If I highlight the text and specify that the
Question Style should be updated to match selection, then all my
questions are numbered correctly. Wow, that was easy. If I save and
close Word to return to Publisher, it's all forgotten and Publisher
displays each question with a number 1 against it. Duh!

I ask myself what is the point of being able to edit in Word, when
standard stuff like this does not follow through. I even saved the text
as a native Word document. When I asked Publisher to import my Word
document, all the questions started with number 1 again.

Has anyone else come across this problem or problems like it?

Regards,

Dominic

First of all, a lot of issues are fixed with the Beta Refresh, the PDF option
will be gone, but it is available as an add-in.

Use shift+enter at the end of the first number, write the non-numbered text,
place the cursor in front of the text where you want the next number, press
enter...
