I do a lot of work in legal contracts and EVERY TIME I open a contract (or
any other document), it defaults to "Final showing markup" so in order to see
a clean document I have to change it to "Final." Word 2003 used to default
to the "Final." Does anyone know how to change this default?

Sincerely hating Word 2007,

The solution is the same in Word 2007 as it was in previous versions,
there's a security option that is set by default so you're aware of those
documents that contain tracked changes. You can find the security option by
clicking the Microsoft Office Button, Word Options, Trust Center, and then
click Trust Center Settings. Under the Privacy Options, you'll find the
option for "Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving".

If you'd rather be aware of those documents that contain revisions, you can
add the Display For Review command (the one you use to change to the Final
view) to your Quick Access Toolbar by right-clicking the command and then
clicking "Add to Quick Access Toolbar".

That's what I do when I work with a lot of documents containing tracked
changes. I don't think I could be as brave as you if I were doing legal
contracts. I wouldn't want to accidentally send out a contract containing
tracked changes - the thought of that is worth the click or two that it
takes to change the view to Final. :-)

Okay, that sounds like what I need to do, but the first problem is that I
don't know where to find the Microsoft Office Button so I can start this
process. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you!!

It's the Pizza Button in the top left hand corner.
