Default MS Office 97 - This application must be installed to run. Please run Setup

After reinstalling Windows - ME & then Office 97
(professional edition), I am geting the error
message "This application must be installed to run. Please
run Setup from the location where you originally installed
the application." I get this message each time I reboot
& when I try to access any of the word or excel documents
that I created prior to the re-installations. I am unable
to use any of the office applications now.

One suggestion has been to wipe out hard drive & reinstall
everything again. But isn't their an easier way???!!!!

No, you do not have to wipe out the machine and start over. I would suggest
to remove Office 97 completely then reinstall it. The following article
should help with that.
