Outlook 2003 Receiving Plain Text Despite Setting HTML
I recently upgraded to Outlook 2003 from OE 6 and on my PC it works fine ...
that is I receive HTML files and scripts/pictures are embedded within the received mail. On my wife's pc (identical) she doesn't. If you send HTML to her it is interpreted as Plain Text. I have tried every setting, and option, reinstalled and the effect is the same. I spent several hours comparing my settings to her to no avail. The only difference is that I have removed OE. She would kill me so I can't do that when Outlook 2003 isn't working properly. So I have taken Outlook 2003 off my wife's PC. However now she is still not receiving HTML files from me. My question to the group here is ... have you ever seen this and can anyone think why? What registry settings(s) controls receive as plain text ? I am using Windows XP, IE 6, Outlook 2003 POP3 account for receiving ... SMTP for sending. What I have already done 1) configured automatic downloads to allow HTML in the security settings 2) set internet security option 3) checked my contact book for my wife to see if I have it specified for plain text mail ... can't find that setting - note if I send to her with HTML and and embedded picture it is not seen as HTML (pretty sure it was ok with us both using OE) Steve W |

Open Outlook 2003 and select Tools | Options | Prefs. tab | Email Options
button and ensure that the read standard mail as plain text (5th checkbox from top) is unchecked. "SW" wrote in message ... Outlook 2003 Receiving Plain Text Despite Setting HTML
Hmmm I'm getting further in this ... it appears that when Outlook 2003 imported my addresses it set all of them individually to send plain text. I can individually change them but I can't seem to change all of them to HTML format send. The option you suggested appears only to be applicable to new addresses added to the contact list. Is this a known bug ? (my title is incorrect on this post now ... it wasn't HTML ... it was plain text that was being sent) SW wrote: Yes did that. If you really did remove Outlook Express, Outlook is not going to function properly, as Outlook relies on some of Outlook Express' files. -- SgtRich Email Client: Microsoft Outlook 2002 News Client (Text): Forté Agent 2.0 www.forteinc.com News Client (Binaries): News Rover 9.2 www.newsrover.com |

Outlook 2003 Receiving Plain Text Despite Setting HTML
Are you sending plain text messages or receiving plain text messages? If
sending, the subject is wrong - you are sending plain text, not receiving it. Were the addresses set for always use plain text in the other program? if you uninstalled OE, you'll need to reinstall it - Outlook and OE share some files. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours Coauthor, OneNote 2003 for Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) Author, Google and Other Search Engines (Visual QuickStart Guide) Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Join OneNote Tips mailing list: http://www.onenote-tips.net/ "SW" wrote in message ...
