Excel XP (2002) Auto Filter problem

I turn on autofilter to limit my view of data in my list,
I then try to change the contents of the viewed data; but
the underlining hidden data will also change if I try to
use autofill or try to make a "global" edit / replace
change.

Has anyone seen this? - it used to work in previous
versions of Excel.

Any known patches?

Select what you can see after having filtered and then do Edit / Go To / Special
/ Visible cells. Now do what you gotta do.
