Default Contacts reminders

We are currently not networked but are looking into networking our system so that we all have access to the same data base of contacts. If we use a server to network our contact list will a reminder "pop - up" on everyones machine or just the person who raised the reminder. We would only like it to pop up on the person who raised the reminder.

is there anyway to do this?

can we use another program other than Microsoft Server to use the same contact data base?

You have some heavy networking ahead of you. You need
Microsoft Exchange to properly share contacts and to
handle reminders. You might want to look into ACT! as a
less expensive alternative.
