Default sending email to an individual in a distribution list

I have a user who is trying to send an email to an
individual in a distribution list. We are in her inbox,
we create a new email message, click on the "To..."
button and it takes us to her address book. Under her
contacts we choose the distribution list that has the
individual she wants to email. Is there a way to go into
properties and choose one person in the list to send the
email to instead of sending it to the whole list? Any
help would be greatly appreciated!!

That would depend on your Outlook version, which you failed to mention.
It would only be possible in Outlook 2003.
