Default Office '03 Pro won't install on Vista

Due to the Office 2007 trial expiring on me ( insert sad face because it's
such a tease when you spend so much on a laptop), I have to load my Office
Pro 2003 CD. I used the auto setup, and it seemed to start to install. Then I
get a message saying Waiting for cabinets to be cached to local installation
source, then references CP561401.CAB. Through the uninstall wizard I deleted
the Office Home and Student 2007 version. Why won't it install? I need help.
Any step by step how to fix it would be good. Oh and yes, I did turn off any
anti-virus program I have. Thanks in advance!

You uninstall any trial version first, including the Activation assistant,
clear temp files & reboot prior to installing from cd

Yes that has been done. It requests to reboot once you uninstall the trial
version.

And activation assistant, together with temp files?
Your Office version is a retail version?

Is Activation Assistant come along with Office 2007? It uninstalled all
components.
Yes it's a version I have with product key, it doesn't give me an error with
any of that when I install. That's the first thing it asks when I put in the
disk, product key code. It gets stuck on the first CAB file. It brings up a
pop up window requesting for me to find the file because it says it's not
able to locate it.

Activation assistant is a seperate entry in Add/Remove dialogue, also look
for any other Office entries, eg BCM (Business Contact Manager)
Presumably the cd is clean & other cd's work fine?

My cd loads fine, this is not my issue. The issue is Office Pro 2003 isn't
installing on Vista. Not my cd drive. Sorry but it's getting frustrating as
this is my main laptop and can't use a single program because of Vista. I'm
sure I'm not the only person this has happened to? Just trying to get a
resolution to what seemed to be easy on XP, is now rocket science on Vista.

Your cd is not loading fine, if it was you would'nt have a missing file
issue
I've installed Offfice 2003 on multiple vista PC's without any issues
