Default OCX Files

The Acces aplication I run uses 2 OCX files: MSCAL.OX and MSCOMCT2.OCX
On my previous XP system I needed to register these files through Active
X-stuff
Now I have a Windows 7 sytem
I tried to register these files but got a messagebox saying I need a
seperate installation program....
Now what?

Thanks for your kind help

Hi

I downloaded MSCOMCT2.OCX
If I understand it correctly I have to place this file in
C:\Windows\SysWOW64
I have no SysWOW64 on my netbook computer.... I have a System32... but
this doesn't seem to be the correct file.
What's next?
Thanks for your kind help

Jean-Paul,

So you have Windows 7 32 bit? then I would try the System32 directory as as
the sysWOW64 is only available on the windows 7 64 bit machines.

I placed the new OCX file in System32

the call to DllRegisterServer failed with
error code 0x8002801c.

I looked it up but this is all far too complicated for me...
I downloaded Process Monitor and ran it but don't know what to do with
the information

Hope you can help

JP

Jean-Paul,

Okay, well since those ideas didn't work let's start from the beginning...

1. Access version
2. Are you loading a Runtime or Full Install
#. UAC Off or On?

I will say this is one of the reason I have stayed away from .OCX
controls...

Try some non OCX alternatives.

See the Calendar Tips page at my website
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/calendars.htm

There could, likely will, be lots of version problems when you go to
distribute the MSCal.OCX..

One alternative is MonthCalendar is a completely API generated Month
Calendar derived directly from the Common Control DLL. There are
links to several downloadable calendar forms at my website. As these
are forms you can also do anything with them you want.

You can also use the calendar form which comes in the Access insert
your version here Developers Handbook by Litwin/Getz/Gilbert,
publisher Sybex www.developershandbook.com. These books are well
worth spending money. Every time I open one I save the price of the
book.

Duane Hookum has an awesome and simple calendar in a report. See the
Calendar Reports sample section at
http://www.access.hookom.net/Samples.htm

As far as MSCOMCT2.OCX goes I don't know what you are using it for but
if you tell us maybe we can give you some suggestions.
