Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted
I have a new HP PC running XP Pro with Office Pro 2007 pre-installed & I have
new, unused full copy of Office Pro 2007. The pre-installed version would not convert to the permanent licensed version when I entered the product key from the newly purchased full version. I receive the message that "The key is incorrect. Verify that you have the correct key, and then retype it." Additionally, I tried to install the full version over the trial version but received the message that "Setup cannot continue because a required file is ether corrupt or missing. Run setup again from the original source disk or download version." Also, I tried to load Office Pro 2007 from another copy of Office Pro 2007, which copy was recently installed on another PC without problem, but I receved the same "Setup cannot continue...." message. So, I re-formated the hard drive & reloaded the XP Pro OS but did not reload the Office 2007 trial program. Then, I tried to install the full version of Office but received the same "Setup cannot continue....." message. Next, I reloaded the trial version of Office 2007 & activated the trial version. All went smoothly & it is operating smoothly. Again, I tried to convert the trial version to the full version using the Product Key from the new Office Pro 2007 |

Your trial copy is probably Home and Student Editiopn. Your paid key is for
Office Pro and will not work no matter what you try.
