Vertical Lines Marking Edits in Margins
We are currently looking for a way to mark specific text
that has been edited in a document. We can easily mark the entire paragraph, but we need to mark JUST the lines that have edits in them. This is a lengthy document and the changes made need to be apparent to the end user. It is THEIR choice that they want these vertical lines. "Just like we used to do on the typewriter." Does anyone have any insights into how to do this? Thanks, Christine .. |

If you have both the current version and previous version of the document
available, then Word can compare the two versions and automatically mark the changes in the text and put change bars in the left or right margin next to the modified lines. In Word 97, you open the new version of the document, click on Tools | Track Changes | Compare Documents, and select the old version of the document. In Word 2002 and 2003, you open the old version of the document, click on Tools | Compare and Merge Documents, and select the new version of the document. You can choose your markup options (colors, change bar locations, etc.) in Tools | Options | Track Changes.
