How do I get the header and footer to show up on the
first page only?

Go to File, Page Setup, Layout -- select 'Different first
page'

Note that, if you already have a header in the section,
it will become the header for all but the newly separated
first page header -- just copy and paste it into the
correct header.

Hope that helps.

Stephanie

File/Page Setup/Layout tab--click "Different first
page." This will create a header and footer for the
first page that's separate from the header and footer for
all subsequent pages.
