Default Form fields

We received a form that already had check box form fields. However, we could
not check the boxes. After some investigation it appeared that I had to
protect the document first prior to checking the boxes.

Once I protected the document, I was obviously unable to make changes to the
text. This is a Court form so we need to be able to make changes to certain
words in the document (depending on the situation).

Is there a way to check the boxes but still add words to the blanks (which
are not fields) in the document?

Any help would be appreciated.

See http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Add_Toggle_Objects.htm and
http://www.addbalance.com/word/downl...#CheckboxAddIn for
several different ways to make checkboxes, some of which do not
require protecting the document first.

The form was (obviously) created by someone who didn't know how to create
Word forms. Since in this case you can't very well return it with rude
remarks and probably don't want to take the time to remake it into something
that actually works, just double-click on each of the check box fields to
open the Form Field Options dialog and change the setting from unchecked to
checked.

Though that assumes that meyersroman wants to do the work that the Court's
form designer should have done.
