Default Strange problem

The past 2 days I noticed that when I double click on a Word, Excel file on
Windows Explorer it takes a long time (1 minute) to open. However, if I open
the Word or Excel program first and then click File\open, the files open very
quickly.

No new software were installed recently. Could this be a Windows problem or
Office problem?

Thanks.

Default Strange problem

I forgot to mention that opening other files like txt docs or pdf in Windows
Explorer opens up very quickly.
