I know it can be installed, I was discussing this combination with a
customer for one of our Visio addons just the other week.

Do you have any other parts of Office installed? Perhaps an older
version of Office? I'm clutching at straws here. I'm also not sure
whether Visio 2007 is supported on the 64-bit Vista.

Support? v2007 is a 32bit app (just like the rest of o2007). There are some
known bugs, but I don't have a list. I use it on both my laptop and desktop
(vista ultimate x64) and had no problems installing it.

I don't have x64 Vista, but I do have x64 Windows 2003 Svr, and Visio 2007
(and the rest of Office) run just fine on it, from my experience. They are
32-bit apps, and are installed in the 'Program Files (x86)' folder, of
course. The only Office issue I'm familiar with is that the OneNote 2007
'Print to OneNote' driver will not load on x64 systems.

Can you provide the specific error message that you get when trying to
install? Also, are there any items logged in the Event logs for the failed
installation attempt?
What kind of media are you installing from? (MSDN downloads / Retail CD /
etc.) You may want to check the media to see if there are any obvious
scratches or defects, as the install may be unable to read files to
complete the install. If you downloaded an ISO from MSDN to create your
CD, there may be a problem with the ISO image.

Visio 2007 installs and works fine on Vista x64 and other x64 operating
systems, so we will need more info to help you out.

Sorry for the delay. Unfortunately there is nothing in the event info that
you provided that identifies an error to research.
I suggest you contact support directly if you are still unable to finish
the install, as there is no reason you should not be able to install Visio
2007 on Vista x64 (or WinXP-x64 for that matter).
