Default Outlook Calendar Sharing Publishing/Syncing Work Around

Christian,

I deleted my own calendars from the Microsoft service days ago. Today,
following your post, I uploaded again and can download again at the other
end PROVIDING I know the email address and password used to upload it. If
you don't know that, you cannot download it. Further, uploading the calendar
as described by you has been done by me in the past since this problem
occurred and it only allowed me to upload the calendar once and never to
upload changes after that. If there were any changes, you had to go delete
the original calendar and stay signed in then upload the calendar. None of
that helped at the other end without knowing email address and passwords so
you cannot share the calendar with other invited people.

Hi Tim,

Did you delete your old online calendars found on office.microsoft.com
(Workaround 2: Step6) before you attempted to republish them?

If you did not remove your old calendars and you did republish a calendar
that was already published to the Calendar Sharing Service, the newly
uploaded calendar will append a [1] to the calendar file. Example:
calendarname[1].ics. This could be the reason why an old subscribe email
may
not be able to find the calendar link/file.

In order to subscribe to the newly uploaded calendar, you will need to
Share
your calendar again; when you Share a calendar it will send an email with
the
new calendar address.

You can find more information on how to Share a calendar he

Easier option - turn the UAC off.

Oh and the workaround only works once, not repeatedly. You have to repeat
the workaround, deleting all and starting from scratch each time.

Update:

Workaround #1 also works with Windows XP and Windows 7. However if you
are
using Windows 7, there is another step involved.

For workaround #1: Step 2 & 8, Windows 7 users must open Internet Explorer
by:
1) Click on Start Menu
2) Go to All Programs
3) Right Click on Internet Explorer
4) Click Run as Administrator

Did you invite the others to the calendar? Once they are invited, they use
their liveid, not yours. If they have problems subscribing to it, they need
to log into office.com first, to set the cookie.

That is what I did but it doesn't help with those people who don't know
your username and password who you want to see the calendar,
unfortunately.

The two methods that work without all this hassle and allow others to see
your calendar a

1) Email the calendar to whomever and get them to import it.
2) Upload it to somewhere on internet where it isn't linked for all to see
and send the link to others you want to see it, complete with full file
name. If they download it, they can have Outlook 2007 include it
automatically.

Of course, neither of those methods beats the pre-problem sharing through
Microsoft but they will do until the problem is fixed.

I got the same error- I went to ofice.com and signed in with the

Basically, the authentication problem affects both the publisher and
subscriber and both will need to use the workarounds.

It has come to our attention that some users are experiencing problems
with
their Outlook Calendar Sharing. I am here to let you know that we are
actively working on the problem, and we’ll keep you up-to-date as we
learn
more. We currently have two workarounds (listed below) which will
allow you
to continue to use the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service.

Common Symptoms:
• When publishing a calendar to Office Online, Outlook prompts user to
sign
in, upon doing so Outlook throws an error stating “The upload of
‘calendar
name’ failed.”
• When refreshing Outlook’s Inbox via ‘Send/Receive’, Outlook prompts
user
to sign in, upon doing so Outlook throws an error stating “The upload
of
‘calendar name’ failed.”
• Online Calendar does not appear to be syncing with Outlook

Workaround #1:
This workaround will allow you to continue the Outlook Calendar Sharing
service without the need to republish your calendars. This workaround
has
only been verified to work with Windows Vista. Note: This workaround
may
not work for all users.

1) Close Outlook.
2) Open Internet Explorer (Note: this walkthrough will be explained
using
Internet Explorer 8)
3) In the top right, click Safety to open the dropdown.
4) Click Delete Browsing History… to open the Delete Browsing History
window.
5) Uncheck Preserve Favorites website data.
6) Check Temporary Internet files, Cookies, History, Form data,
Passwords,
InPrivate Filtering data.
7) Click Delete.
8) Using Internet Explorer, go to: http://office.microsoft.com/.
9) In the top right corner, click Sign in.
10) On the sign in page, enter your Email address and Password.
11) Click Save my e-mail address and password, make sure you select
this
field and not the other two.
12) Click Sign in.
13) Open Outlook, at this time you should be able to publish calendars
and
sync with the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service.

Workaround #2:
Use this workaround as a last resort, using this method will require
you to
republish and share your calendars.

1) Open Outlook
2) Open Account Settings. If you are using Outlook 2007 you can find
Account Settings under Tools - Account Settings. If you are using
Outlook
2010 Beta you can find Account Settings under File - Account
Settings -
Account Settings….
3) Click Published Calendars tab in the Account Settings window.
4) Select your existing Calendars and click Remove.
5) Click Yes to the window that appears asking if you would like to
stop
publishing the calendar.
6) At this moment, a window will appear stating Outlook cannot delete
the
calendars through the client and will ask if you want to delete the
calendars
via http://office.microsoft.com; if this window appears click Yes, from
here
you must delete all your online calendars using Internet Explorer. If
this
window does not appear, it is recommended you open Internet Explorer
and go
to: http://office.microsoft.com, sign into the Outlook Calendar Sharing
Service and delete all of your online calendars.
7) Return to Outlook once all your online calendars have been deleted
from
the Outlook Calendar Sharing website.
8) Inside Outlook return to Account Settings and then to the Published
Calendars tab.
9) Click Change Account… which can be found on the Published Calendars
tab.
10) Click Yes on the window which warns you that all calendars
currently
published to Office Online will no longer be published.
11) Click Sign in on the Office Online / Office.com Registration
window. If
you are already signed in, click Sign Out and close the window, and
return to
Step 9.
12) Type your Email Address and Password.
13) Select Save my e-mail address and password.
14) Click Sign in.
15) Click Finish.
16) Republish and share your calendars. More Information on how to do
this
can be found he

Default Outlook Calendar Sharing Publishing/Syncing Work Around

Diane,

Yes, I invited others and invited myself on the other machine as well. It
doesn't matter what you do - if you don't know the email address and
password, you cannot share that calendar.

Also, I just changed details on the work laptop calendar remotely and tried
to make it connect to the Microsoft calendar service again. Yesterday, when
I did that with changes, as expected it went OK provided I clicked "Change
Account" first. Any attempt to connect to the Microsoft Calendar service
after that was also OK as I didn't change the calendar until this morning.
So, this morning I make the changes and get it to connect and as predicted,
it failed in the way it has always been failing since all this occurred in
the first place. In order to upload the changes to Microsoft, I have to
logon to the service using I.E. and delete the calendar then I have to go to
Outook 2007 and click the "Change account" option. As I said to Christian
yesterday, in order to get updates to Microsoft as they occur for now, you
still have to keep on doing ALL this routine but at the other end, you cant
share the calendar which makes the whole service unable to be used.

Now note that, while all that sounds like a big "Boo Hoo" whinge, it is only
meant to point out that the service just doesn't really work in reality. The
only real option until Microsoft fix this problem is to save your calendar
to desktop and upload it to a spot on internet then get others to grab the
calendar from there *OR* just email the calendar to anyone else who you want
to see it. So, there IS a workaround that doesn't require as much time
wasted as using the broken Microsoft service for now. Hope that helps.

That is what I did but it doesn't help with those people who don't know
your username and password who you want to see the calendar,
unfortunately.

The two methods that work without all this hassle and allow others to
see your calendar a

1) Email the calendar to whomever and get them to import it.
2) Upload it to somewhere on internet where it isn't linked for all to
see and send the link to others you want to see it, complete with full
file name. If they download it, they can have Outlook 2007 include it
automatically.

Of course, neither of those methods beats the pre-problem sharing
through Microsoft but they will do until the problem is fixed.

I got the same error- I went to ofice.com and signed in with the

Basically, the authentication problem affects both the publisher and
subscriber and both will need to use the workarounds.

Thank you for the post. I have been having this problem for about
two weeks.

Work around #1 did not work for me. (same error message: The
upload of
"Calendar" fialed. There was a problem uploading
the file to the server. )

Work around #2 did allow me to publish the calendar.

BUT: Now I cannot subscribe to the calendar.

When I attempt to subscribe to the calendar I get the following
error:

Cannot verify or add the calendar to outlook. Make sure the
following
link is a valid calendar link:

The link is the link that was sent with the publish of the calendar
(that I
had just performed)

Is there a work around for this problem.

It has come to our attention that some users are experiencing
problems with
their Outlook Calendar Sharing. I am here to let you know that we
are
actively working on the problem, and we'll keep you up-to-date as we
learn
more. We currently have two workarounds (listed below) which will
allow you
to continue to use the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service.

Common Symptoms:
. When publishing a calendar to Office Online, Outlook prompts user
to sign
in, upon doing so Outlook throws an error stating "The upload of
'calendar
name' failed."
. When refreshing Outlook's Inbox via 'Send/Receive', Outlook
prompts user
to sign in, upon doing so Outlook throws an error stating "The
upload of
'calendar name' failed."
. Online Calendar does not appear to be syncing with Outlook

Workaround #1:
This workaround will allow you to continue the Outlook Calendar
Sharing
service without the need to republish your calendars. This
workaround has
only been verified to work with Windows Vista. Note: This
workaround may
not work for all users.

1) Close Outlook.
2) Open Internet Explorer (Note: this walkthrough will be explained
using
Internet Explorer 8)
3) In the top right, click Safety to open the dropdown.
4) Click Delete Browsing History. to open the Delete Browsing
History window.
13) Open Outlook, at this time you should be able to publish
calendars and
sync with the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service.

Workaround #2:
Use this workaround as a last resort, using this method will require
you to
republish and share your calendars.

1) Open Outlook
2) Open Account Settings. If you are using Outlook 2007 you can
find
Account Settings under Tools - Account Settings. If you are using
Outlook
2010 Beta you can find Account Settings under File - Account
Settings -
Account Settings..
3) Click Published Calendars tab in the Account Settings window.
4) Select your existing Calendars and click Remove.
5) Click Yes to the window that appears asking if you would like to
stop
publishing the calendar.
6) At this moment, a window will appear stating Outlook cannot
delete the
calendars through the client and will ask if you want to delete the
calendars
via http://office.microsoft.com; if this window appears click Yes,
from here
you must delete all your online calendars using Internet Explorer.
If this
window does not appear, it is recommended you open Internet Explorer
and go
to: http://office.microsoft.com, sign into the Outlook Calendar
Sharing
Service and delete all of your online calendars.
7) Return to Outlook once all your online calendars have been
deleted from
the Outlook Calendar Sharing website.
8) Inside Outlook return to Account Settings and then to the
Published
Calendars tab.
9) Click Change Account. which can be found on the Published
Calendars tab.
10) Click Yes on the window which warns you that all calendars
currently
published to Office Online will no longer be published.
11) Click Sign in on the Office Online / Office.com Registration
window. If
you are already signed in, click Sign Out and close the window, and
return to
Step 9.
12) Type your Email Address and Password.
13) Select Save my e-mail address and password.
14) Click Sign in.
15) Click Finish.
16) Republish and share your calendars. More Information on how to
do this
can be found he
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...809831033.aspx.

Diane,

Yes, I invited others and invited myself on the other machine as well.
It doesn't matter what you do - if you don't know the email address and
password, you cannot share that calendar.

Also, I just changed details on the work laptop calendar remotely and
tried to make it connect to the Microsoft calendar service again.
Yesterday, when I did that with changes, as expected it went OK provided
I clicked "Change Account" first. Any attempt to connect to the
Microsoft Calendar service after that was also OK as I didn't change the
calendar until this morning. So, this morning I make the changes and get
it to connect and as predicted, it failed in the way it has always been
failing since all this occurred in the first place. In order to upload
the changes to Microsoft, I have to logon to the service using I.E. and
delete the calendar then I have to go to Outook 2007 and click the
"Change account" option. As I said to Christian yesterday, in order to
get updates to Microsoft as they occur for now, you still have to keep
on doing ALL this routine but at the other end, you cant share the
calendar which makes the whole service unable to be used.

Now note that, while all that sounds like a big "Boo Hoo" whinge, it is
only meant to point out that the service just doesn't really work in
reality. The only real option until Microsoft fix this problem is to
save your calendar to desktop and upload it to a spot on internet then
get others to grab the calendar from there *OR* just email the calendar
to anyone else who you want to see it. So, there IS a workaround that
doesn't require as much time wasted as using the broken Microsoft
service for now. Hope that helps.

That is what I did but it doesn't help with those people who don't
know your username and password who you want to see the calendar,
unfortunately.

The two methods that work without all this hassle and allow others
to see your calendar a

1) Email the calendar to whomever and get them to import it.
2) Upload it to somewhere on internet where it isn't linked for all
to see and send the link to others you want to see it, complete with
full file name. If they download it, they can have Outlook 2007
include it automatically.

Of course, neither of those methods beats the pre-problem sharing
through Microsoft but they will do until the problem is fixed.

I got the same error- I went to ofice.com and signed in with the
subscriber's liveid and then I was able to subscribe to the
calendar. Basically, the authentication problem affects both the
publisher and subscriber and both will need to use the workarounds.

The link is the link that was sent with the publish of the
calendar (that I
had just performed)

Is there a work around for this problem.

It has come to our attention that some users are experiencing
problems with
their Outlook Calendar Sharing. I am here to let you know that
we are
actively working on the problem, and we'll keep you up-to-date as
we learn
more. We currently have two workarounds (listed below) which
will allow you
to continue to use the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service.

Common Symptoms:
. When publishing a calendar to Office Online, Outlook prompts
user to sign
in, upon doing so Outlook throws an error stating "The upload of
'calendar
name' failed."
. When refreshing Outlook's Inbox via 'Send/Receive', Outlook
prompts user
to sign in, upon doing so Outlook throws an error stating "The
upload of
'calendar name' failed."
. Online Calendar does not appear to be syncing with Outlook

Workaround #1:
This workaround will allow you to continue the Outlook Calendar
Sharing
service without the need to republish your calendars. This
workaround has
only been verified to work with Windows Vista. Note: This
workaround may
not work for all users.

1) Close Outlook.
2) Open Internet Explorer (Note: this walkthrough will be
explained using
Internet Explorer 8)
3) In the top right, click Safety to open the dropdown.
4) Click Delete Browsing History. to open the Delete Browsing
History window.
11) Click Save my e-mail address and password, make sure you
select this
field and not the other two.
12) Click Sign in.
13) Open Outlook, at this time you should be able to publish
calendars and
sync with the Outlook Calendar Sharing Service.

Workaround #2:
Use this workaround as a last resort, using this method will
require you to
republish and share your calendars.

1) Open Outlook
2) Open Account Settings. If you are using Outlook 2007 you can
find
Account Settings under Tools - Account Settings. If you are
using Outlook
2010 Beta you can find Account Settings under File - Account
Settings -
Account Settings..
3) Click Published Calendars tab in the Account Settings window.
4) Select your existing Calendars and click Remove.
5) Click Yes to the window that appears asking if you would like
to stop
publishing the calendar.
6) At this moment, a window will appear stating Outlook cannot
delete the
calendars through the client and will ask if you want to delete
the calendars
via http://office.microsoft.com; if this window appears click
Yes, from here
you must delete all your online calendars using Internet
Explorer. If this
window does not appear, it is recommended you open Internet
Explorer and go
to: http://office.microsoft.com, sign into the Outlook Calendar
11) Click Sign in on the Office Online / Office.com Registration
window. If
you are already signed in, click Sign Out and close the window,
and return to
Step 9.
12) Type your Email Address and Password.
13) Select Save my e-mail address and password.
14) Click Sign in.
15) Click Finish.
16) Republish and share your calendars. More Information on how
to do this
can be found he

Default Outlook Calendar Sharing Publishing/Syncing Work Around

Hello Hugh,

Are you still experiencing problems publishing? If so, let's see if I can
help. First I need to ask you a few questions:
1. What version of Outlook are you using?
2. What version of Internet Explorer are you using?
3. What is your current publishing status? Can you publish? Are you
getting any kind of error? If so, what is it? If you can publish, are your
subscribers experiencing issues?
4. What have you tried to resolve the issue?

Thanks,
Christian Miller

Sorry but no it doesn't work at all. I have tried it many times as have
others. It is just as broken as it always was no matter what happens. I even
tried it all again this morning. Still broken.
