Default Multilevel numbered lists Word 2007

I have a multilevel numbered list in Word 2007. I have linked a
heading to each level. It looks like this:

Level 1 - 1 Heading one
Level 2 - 1.1 Heading two (here I include level 1)
Level 3 - 1.1.1 Heading three (here I include level 1,2)
Level 4 - 1.1.1.1 Heading four (here I include level 1,2,3)
Level 5 - 1.1 Paragraph one (here I include level 1)
Level 6 - 1.1.1 Paragraph two (here I include level 1,2), (also tried
including level 1 and 5)
Level 7 - 1.1.1.1 Paragraph three (here I include level 1,2,3), (also
tried including level 1 and 5 and 6)

I think this works brilliantly. But the client pointed out that in
their old templates (2003) they would get the following numbering:

1.1 Heading two
1.2 Paragraph two

But what I get in my template for 2007 is:

1.1 Heading two
1.1 Paragraph two.

This is wrong. How can I get this to work?

I will answer my own question, since a colleague helped me.

Start over. This template is somehow contaminated, or the styles are.
So start from scratch.

1. Set headings 1 through 4.
2. Make a multilevel list style and link the headings.
3. Make paragraphs 1-2 and base them on headings 2-3. DO NOT LINK THEM
TO A MULTILEVEL LIST! They will be numbered automatically.

I tried this. It worked. Then I went to my old template and deleted
all my old styles. I was then able to copy my new styles over. Not all
of them worked. I actually had to delete the paragraphs and start over
with them.

As you have noticed, if you want style A to use the numbering of style B,
basing A on B is the way to do it.
