Problem installing Office 2000 Professional
I previously installed Office 2000 Prof on computer with no problem. Due to
computer problems I had to install system recovery disks. Then when I tried to re-install Ofc with disk 1 in the tray of the drive I got the message that there is no disk in the tray. Why is the disk not recognized as being in the tray & how can I run the installation. Thanks for your help. |

Sound more like a problem with your cd drive than office cd.
Are other cd's recognised? "Barry" wrote in message ... I previously installed Office 2000 Prof on computer with no problem. Due to computer problems I had to install system recovery disks. Thanks DL. Yes other CDs open normally only had problem with Office Disk 1 &
Click to DVD not opening. I tested Office disk #2 & it opened. Someone mentioned that I may have installed the program more than 3 times which may be the problem. Microsoft support said that a message would appear saying that if it was the case. I did notice that the disk had a couple of scratches on it & ran a disk recovery program which did not detect any files on the disk. As if the program just disappeared off the disk. Any ideas? I would try disk 1 on a different system and see if it can be read.
If the disk is bad then your out of luck as production of the office 2000 media has been discontinued. "Barry" wrote in message ... Thanks DL. Thanks Can-So. Disk 1 does not work on other computers. I have office
installed on an old computer that I only use to run an old DOS program. Is there a way to remove it from the old computer & install it on my new one? Also do you know anything about Open Office supposedly it's compatible with MS Office? Thanks. "Can-So" wrote: I would try disk 1 on a different system and see if it can be read. Open Office has most of the abilities of Office except for the collaboration
ability and email/PIM. If you are using this for home use, it is probably adequate. I haven't tried the latest version but others work well enough for simple tasks. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Thanks Milly,
What do you mean by collaboration ability and email/PIM? I may be using it for home & small business.
