I have a broken cd drive on my laptop - can I install
office from another computer's cd drive

If you have the computers networked and have shared out the CD drive on the
machine with the working CD, I don't see why not. Also, you can copy the
contents of the CD from one machine to the hard drive of the laptop to avoid
the prompts for the CD when you apply updates and SPs, etc. Copy to the
hard drive of the laptop, install from there and keep the installation
files.
