Uninstalling Office 2000
LOL. It needed to (install) do this since you have deleted some of the files that Office 2000 needed. When the install is 100% correct then you will have the option for removal when you start the install. Go and try again. If the install is correct then you will have the Remove option show up for you.
BTW Did you reboot after the install was finished? -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. My computer is acting weird and now when I open Excel it does open the app, but as soon as I click on the spreadsheet I get "The application must be installed to be run. Please run setup from the location where you originally installed the application." I couldn't find any setup file. When I went to uninstall Office 2000 from my Add/Remove Programs - it was not listed (actually there are a lot of programs missing). So this is what I did -- I renamed the Microsoft Office folder (under Program Files) to Microsoft Office - OLD. Then I tried to install Office 2000 Prof. Edition. Installation went fine - but again, the Excel app gave me the same error. I looked at the new Microsoft Office folder (under Program Files) and the dates for the install were the 1999 ones. Why didn't it use the install from today 12/31/06? So I figured I just uninstall both Office 2000 Prof and Small Business - - but I don't see Office 2000 Small Business in my Add/Remove. How can I remove it completely? I thought if I got rid of both, and reinstalled the Prof Edition - I would be all set. HELP!!! |

Uninstalling Office 2000
glad you can LOL - this is so frustrating. OK - I did try again and I did
get the remove option - - I selected it and it went through and said complete. When I went to Windows Explorer to change the folder I renamed to MOffice - OLD, the other folder was still there, even after I removed it through the CD. So, now can I delete the folder and it's contents. Or do I run the utility you sent, see if that wipes out the folder then rename the "OLD" folder and run the utlitiy again? Uninstalling Office 2000
I deleted the folder and the contents. I then ran the Eraser utility. (the
MOff folder is still there - do I delete that folder now?) when it rebooted I got that message again"The application must be installed to be run. Please run setup from the location where you originally installed the application." I think that's because when I reboot - it tries to start Office. So, another question - is where do I make the selections of what gets started at reboot. Also - is my next step to delete the folder then reinstall MSOff Prof? Sorry that I have NO clue what I'm doing - - I'm trying!
