Default Spam Mail Folder

What is the function of the above, I cannot see the point of storing any
there ? No advice in help .

Not an issue with Outlook Express.
Outlook Express does not create a folder by this name.
YOU created that folder.
Or some anti-spam software that YOU installed created the folder.

If you cannot recall why you created that folder and no rules use it
then delete it.

If you installed anti-spam software that created the folder then go read
its manual on how that software utilizes that folder.

Generally it is advised to collect mails detected as spam so that the
use can go through the list and check to see if any "good" e-mail was
accidentally identified as spam, in which case it can be removed from
the folder before deleting everything.
False positives are a common occurrence with any spam detection so
it's always a good idea to check to be sure you aren't throwing out any
non-spam emails. Sort of a safety valve.
