Default How can I correct ^^ or `` to â or è (English(US); Swiss(FR) keyb)

For Word, Outlook, Ecxel and even in notepad, when typing a+^, office returns
a^^
this double "a^^" or "e``" instead of normal "â" or "è" has appeared suddenly.

Anyone encountered a similar problem? Any fix? All the latest service packs
are updated. Different regional setting/keyboard settings does not change the
problem.

Kind regards

In your keyboard settings for language, add International English.

Thanks, tried US-International and a few others (since International English
does not seem to appear for Office 2003/Windows XP), unfortunately no change;
still have the double characters ^^ and ``
If installing an add-in for French characters I found on Microsoft download,
I have a work-around in e.g. Word, but would of course need to fix the ^^
problem
