emails wont download

Good morning all
I have recently downloaded update to back up emails from my outlook 2003 it
will not work says file in use by another application... also since
downloading this file I cannot receive emails. I click on send and receive
but nothing happens. I can send emails though
any help greatly appreciated

I downloaded the Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders Backup tool

The err msg can be as a result of a third party DeskTop Search tool, sync
software, or simply that Outlook hasnt exited properly. Next time you close
Outlook, bring up Task Manager, in running processes, see if outlook.exe is
still running.

Have you tried an Outlook Detect/Repair or Office Diagnostics, depending on
your version of Outlook
