Default second x axis not present

Hi,

I designed an Excel chart to as a scatter plot with four
series. One series is plotted on a secondary x axis but
the axis tick marks and labels do not appear, nor are
they editable. When I move the mouse over the area to
select "secondary x-axis", no such label (choice)
appears. The data are plotting correctly, but I need to
show the labels so the viewer of the chart understands
that this one series is not referencing the primary x-
axis, but is referencing the secondary x-axis.

In Chart Option, both x axes are shown to exist. In the
data series in question, the series info shows that it is
plotting on a secondary x-axis.

Are there suggestions on how I can bring up the labels
and tick marks for the secondary x-axis?

Thank you!

Hi,

I realized what caused my secondary x-axis labels to
disappear. I made the y-axes have the same scale so all
series are being compared on the same scale. Then the
labels/tick marks of the secondary x-axis disappeared.
How can I bring them back?

Thank you!

One way to select an otherwise invisible chart component is this:

Select *any* chart entity (a series, a visible axis, anything). Now,
use the Up Arrow (or Down Arrow) key to cycle through every component,
including those that are not visible.

Another way is to use the drop-down box in the chart toolbar. However,
from what I remember, there are some chart components that are not
listed in that drop-down.

If both category axes are located on the same edge of the chart, one is
likely to obscure the other, even if the tick marks don't coincide. You
can move an axis to the other side if you format the other axis in the
axis group (e.g., format the secondary Y axis to move the secondary X
axis), and on the Scale tab, change the Crosses At value (maybe by
checking or unchecking the Crosses at Maximum box).
