Default Chart & annotations pasted to Microsoft Word

I use lots of annotoations (text boxes, auto shapes, etc..)on my Excel
charts. Typically these charts are then pasted to Word. When I
reposition the chart within Word, the annotations do not follow.

Soes anyone know of a way to "lock" the annotations within the chart
so when I reposition the chart, the annotations move with it?

Thanks,

Bill

Bill -

There are two issues that may be working here. First, if the added
graphical elements are not part of the charts in Excel, they will be
harder to control. If the shapes disappear when you select the chart,
they are floating over the chart in Excel's drawing layer but are not
integral to the chart. When adding such elements, make sure the chart
is selected prior to clicking the button for the shape.

Another issue is that text boxes and other elements are not associated
with XY positions in the chart. If the labels are resized, or the fonts
change size, etc., they will reposition to fit. For text labels, you
could use a dummy series with invisible points where you need a label,
apply a data label to the invisible points (show value or label, doesn't
matter), and edit the label text. This quickly gets tedious, so you'll
appreciate one of these free add-ins that automate the process"
