Default HUGE "Inbox.dbx" folder but no email messages shown - please help

I have lost the email messages in my Inbox.
The "Inbox.dbx" file is HUGE but the message:
"There are no items in this view." is displayed.
Anyone know how to recover the email messages in my Inbox?
I tried File=Import=Messages... but without success.

DBXtract: {Cost: $5.00}
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx

DBXpress: {$24.95, but much faster for large files}
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx

A general warning if you don't want to lose your messages:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will
eventually
become corrupted. Create your own user defined folders for
storing
mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder
regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default
folders as
empty as is feasible.

See http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm#mailgone,
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/...orruption.mspx,
and http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4
~~~~~~~~~~
Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.
Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.
Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.
I tried Macallan first since it was free but it crashed.
DBXtract recovered my messages though.
Thanks for the responses.
FYI, prior to loosing my email messages,
I kept getting the error message:
"MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in ...".
So, if anyone get this error message, the problem might be caused by
low disk space or huge DBX files, especially "Inbox.dbx".
Looking more closely, it appears that DBXtract recovered "most" of
my email messages. There is a chunk that is missing. So,
I tried to download the messages again from my gmail account.
However, selecting the option:
"Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)"
does nothing. What do I need to do to download the messages again?
Try this: Close OE and delete POP3dlui.dbx from your identity's store.
NB: If you have any other POP3 accounts, doing so will cause all messages
still on those accounts' servers to be downloaded again, too.
Is there any way to download only selected accounts?
