Default Rules for other machine

I have just started using Outlook 2007 on a Win7 machine. The Rules I
previously developed using O2003 are available but are suffixed with "(for
other machine)". I tried exporting the rules to a file, deleting the rules
and then re-importing them. This looked favourable to start with but then the
suffix came back.
I tried again, closing Outlook before re-importing. The suffix is missing
for now, but who knows if it will re-appear?

Importing / exporting will lose all sorts of data and settings, and is
rarely the way to deal with native outlook data, as detailed here daily.
You need to reset / configure your rules for this PC

Not for rules. Importing and exporting is a good way to transfer rules.
