Default Stops playing music halfway through-runs out of RAM?

I have a presentation of about 48 slides. Each has one fly-in animation and
music from a CD track. It stops playing the music halfway through and just
few slides more it halts totally. (Won't move forward on spacebar tap, but
will quit on ESC key.) I've tried in past to play the music from mp3 files
with no better results.

Does the music stop at the same place each time?

Does the presentation itself stop at the same place each time?

Does this happen on all computers, or just one? It sounds like a resources
problem -- what's on the slides, and how big (file size) is the
presentation?

Music tracks stop in about the same place each time, as does the
presentation. Presentation was 1.5M, I've pared it to 915K. Each slide is a
flag graphic. It plays part of a national anthem, then when I click the music
stops and the text "flies in". It happened on my desktop AND my laptop, but
both are XP with 2G.

How did you set up the sound file animations?

It sounds like you want the music to play while the slides advance
automatically, but it's stipping when you click to move to the next slide.
If this is the case, then you need to set the animation settings on your
sound file -- right-click, choose custom animation. In the Animation task
pane, double-click the sound listed there. On the Effect tab, choose "stop
playing clip after XXX slides" and put 999 in the box.

If this is not the case, then please give us step-by step what you're doing,
what is actually happening, and what you expect to happen.

The sound will stop by default on the next click. As Echo suggests you nned
to chgange the stop setting (probably to after current slide in this case) or
if its a wav try inserting as a transition sound on the slide. There is a
tutorial here http://www.pptalchemy.co.uk/embed_wavs.html
