Default Animating a bar and line graph

By using custom animation I can animate my bar and line graph by choosing the
animate by series option. However, no matter how the information is shown on
the data sheet, i.e. data for line graph first, then data for bar graph
second, the animation seems to automatically animate the bar graph first.
Any suggestions as to how I can animate each item separately, so that the
line graph appears before the bar graph? Also when I animate using the
series animation, you don't get the option of re-ordering the animations in
the task pane. that would have been the easy option!

Thanks,

Chart animation is rudimentary at best.

I would probably just ungroup the chart, regroup the line, animate what I
needed, and be done with it. (I'd copy the chart and ungroup the copy. The
original I'd drag off the edge of the slide, right-click, Format Object, and
size to 5% x 5%.)

Alternatively, you might experiment with charting the line on a secondary
axis. (You can make the secondary axis invisible with no tickmarks or
labels, if necessary....) I dunno if that will work or not, but it's worth a
shot.
