in the last paragraph he www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx steve "Jim Pickering" wrote in message ... Without folders.dbx from the original message store the files were in, an import will always fail. There is a workaround outlined at this website: http://www.insideoe.com/faqs/how.htm#importdbx -- Jim Pickering MVP-Outlook Express/Windows Mail Please reply to newsgroup only so that others may be helped with your feedback. "boopygirl" wrote in message ... yes I saved all files including the dbx files and they all show up but wont open on the saved drive and the reinstalled drive. but i have a folders file but no folders dbx file on either of these drives. Yes they all went into a brand new folder on the hard drive. and i removed the read onlys, and then i tried the OE import messages but they dont show up in OE. Please help. Boopygirl You haven't really told us what you did to save your email before formatting the drive. Did you save all of the DBX files? Did you include Folders.dbx? Did you copy the DBX files back to an empty folder on the hard drive? Did you remove the Read Only attribute? Did you then use OE's File | Import | Messages? -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Please reply in newsgroup. Do NOT send email. |

my outlook wont inport my old mesages
I will check out these sugestion and repost as to outcome on monday as I am
going away for the weekend.Betty "Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM" wrote: First, if there is no Folders.dbx then you did not save all of the DBX files. You have to have Folders.dbx in your current message store. If it isn't there OE makes it when it opens. There is a slight possibility that the .dbx is yidden. You can copy Inbox.dbx, Deleted Items.dbx, Drafts.dbx, Outbox.dbx and Sent Items.dbx to OE's current store location, overwriting the existing folders... For the others, open OE and created OE folders it exactly the same name (the part before the .dbx) and open each one after creationg it. Then close OE and overwrite the new DBX files with the saved DBX files. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Please reply in newsgroup. Do NOT send email.
