Provide some information. State which of the instructions you are following,
Outlook version, and what happens. http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=ol2002 -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "qryus" wrote in message ... "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" grayed out. |

If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings: Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is the box to enable as email address book is checked? If this is grayed out... Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it. If you are using Outlook 2007 and the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service due to a bug. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ Outlook Tips by email: Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com You can access this newsgroup by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/office/comm...s/default.mspx or point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com. Beautiful. Thank you very much!!
I removed it, added it, then restarted, in that order. I have tried this about 10 times and always the Address Book box is grayed
out, and will not let me remove the Outlook Address book, only the Mobile address book, I can not change the properties of the address book. I have removed the Business Contact Manager and run a restore and repairs. The next step is to backup and remove Outlook and reinstall it. I am using Windows 7 RC1, x64 and was having troubles with Outlook each time I would close the program It would restart and say that it was not shut down properly. Yes, me as well. Vista 32bit, outlook 2007 w/BCM. Sorry Diane, I tired the
New profile too to many hrs of work, no results, and much dismay ... no use. Still greyed out. I'm sorry... no one in MS has dealt with this in the 3yrs Outlook 2007 has been out??? And it's a bug that has been throughout Outlook 2000 - 2007? Thanks if anyone finds something to help it. I am using Vista 64 bit and Outlook 2007 w/BCM and I finally got it to work,
What I did was like what Diane said; I backed up all my e-mails and addresses to a .PST file. Went to my e-mail accounts and wrote all them down into a text document with all the settings and passwords. Then went to the Control Panel in the 32bit Mail application, Show Profiles, General, Removed the outlook profile. Rebooted, went back there and created a new profile Outlook, opened the e-mail accounts button and started to re-create the e-mail accounts again. Opened Outlook and imported the e-mails and addresses and they were working again, I can now send out e-mails from my address book and from the view window. There really needs to be an easier way to back up your e-mail settings that is for sure, because the backup inside of Outlook does not do it. I also did a search for Outlook and found the profiles dir, I had tried to do it Diane's way by just making an Outlook 1, Outlook 2 and setting them as default and going through the same steps but it did not work for me. When I did the search I deleated the files in a hidden dir and then the profile was gone and then made the new one and went through all the steps above and it worked. There IS no native backup "inside" of Outlook. What do you mean by that?
