Default email format

When I reply to an e-mail, most of the time Outlook
correctly picks the right format for response: i.e., if
the incoming e-mail was HTML, the reply is HTML, and if
the original e-mail is plain text the reply is plain
text. Sometimes, though, when the original e-mail is
HTML, and I hit the "Reply" button, Outlook generates a
plain-text response. Can anyone tell me (i) what makes
that happen, and (ii) how to keep it from happening?

Thanks for any help.

Lloyd
