Default Anti Virus

I have just installed Norton antivirus. Now every time I try to
open a document that is password protected or save as any document.
words top blue bar starts flashing and at the bottom the message

"requesting Virus Scan"

This is a new one on me. Any sugestions please.

Suggestions? OK, uninstall Norton crapware and purchase a proper AVP - like
Panda or AVG. NAV takes over, misses many virii and tends to break Office.

Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton
AntiVirus. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820 "How to
use Office programs with the Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in" for
