Does anyone know what the symbol at the end of text (like in a magazine) is
called?

Any magazine. I just want to know in general what that mark is called. I
think they are used in newspapers also.

I have several magazines and newspapers open in front of me at this moment.
None uses anything other than periods.

Perhaps you are asking about the symbols shown in the fonts Wingdings and
Webdings.

Printer's ornaments in general are referred to as dingbats. Those that look
like vine leaves are called fleurons (see
http://www.paratype.com/help/term/terms.asp?code=140). The dingbat used to
end an article does probably have a special name, but if I ever knew it,
I've forgotten it.
