Converting Office Trial to Full Use
I purchased a workstation that was bundled with the activation key for MS
Office Small Business 2007. the activation key card says that it is for MS Office Ready PC's. Although the workstation was supposed to have the SB Office trial preloaded, it did not. I contacted the manufacturers tech support an they gave me the URL to download the trial copy. I did so and it installed fine. Then I tried to convert the trial copy to a full use copy by running the Activation Wizard. I entered the new activation key but it is rejected with the error message "The key is incorrect. Verify that you have the correct key, and retype it." I have done this several times, but it is rejected everytime. I went to MS suport, which is not friendly, and they want 100-bucks to answer the email. I am loath to do this since I just paid $250 to have the full-use product activation key bundled with the system, but I will if I have to. Anybody have any ideas? -- KJHunt |

Your key is for an OEM version of Office 2007 Small Business
Edition. The trial software you downloaded is a retail version. You cannot use an OEM key to activate a retail version. You cannot legally download an OEM version from anywhere. You should contact the vendor from whom you purchased the OEM key to get an OEM version of Office 2007 Small Business Edition. Perhaps it was an MLK key they gave you;

I did contact the vendor (HP) and it was HP that gave me the URL to download
the "retail" version of the trial. I will contact them again and explain that the URL doesn't do me any good that I need the OEM version. I was suspicious that was the problem. Thanks! -- KJHunt "DL" wrote: Perhaps it was an MLK key they gave you; http://www.microsoft.com/office/back...s/default.mspx "KJHunt" wrote in message ... The term 'Office Ready PC's' can be used to refer to a MLK key, did you not
try the link? The usual Office trial link will be no good with your key, and anything you downloaded via that link must be uninstalled prior to you trying anything else. "KJHunt" wrote in message ...
