Default Microsoft Office 2007 installation information needed

I have Microsoft Office Professional 2007 SP2 and Microsoft Office OneNote
2007 SP2 on a Windows Home Premium x86 SP2 system with a 120GB hard drive. I
need both programs, but they are taking up too much of the hard drive. I
want to install it on an external hard drive and and still have Windows
Update find updates for it. Is there a way to do this and if there is and
Windows Update cannot find updates for it snce it was installed in another
location is there a way that I can find out if there is new updates available
and can download them and then install them and if I can where do I install
them.

You might be better off moving data (re locating your Documents folder) to
an external
Or if you are that short of space install an internal slave drive or buy a
larger main drive.
Office requires approx 2gb to install, so if space is that tight installing
to an external will only be a short term solution.
Win requires a min of 15% free space, ie 18gb on your sys to function
efficiently

If you do custom install Office to an external, installation files will
still be written to C; you will not gain much.
