Default "File Save As" problem

Lately whenever I choose "File Save As" in Excel or Word the program hangs
and I have to abort. The only way to save a file under a new name is to take
the original file and rename it on the Windows desktop. How can I fix the
"File Save As" function?

Having had the same problem, this was recommended to me by garfield-n-odie.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165 "Problems in Windows
Explorer or the Windows shell after you install security update
MS06-015".

it's worth a go and worked for me.

good luck.
