Default OE not responding & preview pane empty

Hi,

I am having problems with OE. When I click on any message, OE will first
show "NOT RESPONDING" message at the top, after a very long time, "NOT
RESPONDING" will disappear but nothing shows up in the preview pane (it's
empty). If I double click on a message, it'll show "NOT RESPONDING" at the
top as well.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Donna

See http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/ for proper maintenance of OE.

For your problem, try going to Tools/Options/Maintenance and clear where it
says "compact messages in the backgroud" and OK your way out. Then click on
Outlook Express on the left side of the window. Then go to File and choose
"work offline". Go back to File/Folder and choose "Compact All folders". You
should do this about once a week.

If you have your anti virus checking your email, disable it as it offers no
additional protection and can be the cause of the problems you are having
now.
