Default Footers - how do I make them different on each page?

I'm doing a research paper and I need my footers on each page to be
different, how do I do this?
When I insert them, they show up on every page.

Footers are, by definition, the same on each page.

What do you want to appear different on each page?

grammatim's question is certainly a valid one.

If you are trying to repeat something from the page in the footer, note that
you can make use of a STYLEREF field.
