Default IE6's Mail Sending to Yahoo Mail & not OE

I am in deep doo doo with dad. Even a 45 year old can get in trouble with
dad and I DIDN'T DO IT!
His ISP is SBCGlobal/Yahoo. He's running XP. He uses OE to send and
receive mail. UNTIL RECENTLY, he has been able to use the Mail icon on the
IE toolbar to Read Mail, Send Message, Send Page, Send Link, Read News. OE
would execute all these functions. NOW, when he chooses to Send a Message,
Page or Link (via the Mail icon in IE6), he's kicked to the Yahoo Mail
website. If he chooses Read Mail, he's taken to OE. Somehow, this is my
fault lol Also, if he right clicks on a file/picture on his hard drive
and chooses Send To: Mail Recipient, again, it takes him to the Yahoo Mail
website. Using the "Email this File" in the Files and Folders Task feature
found in XP, also sends him to Yahoo Mail website. The ONLY time he can
send a file/picture or email via OE is to do it from WITHIN OE.
Recapping...dad can send email/files/pictures via OE from within OE. Dad is
forced to use Yahoo Mail website to send email/files/pictures using IE's
Mail icon, right clicking a file in Windows or using the "Email this File"
feature. Can anyone get me out of the doghouse and make an old man happy??
Thanks!
Monica

ps...I have done the following:
*Checked Tools/IE Options/Programs...at first, the Email program was Yahoo
Mail. I changed it to OE and thought I saved the day...WRONG. He still
gets kicked to Yahoo Mail.
* I've deleted cookies and IE files. I THINK I cleared the history

*I've Reset Web Settings and Defaults

*Called SBCGlobal tech support....NO help!

*A lot of checking settings and I can't see anything else that would make
the change.

Yahoo! mail comes with an SBC Yahoo! DSL (or Dial Up) Service account. I can
log on to http://mail.yahoo.com using +
SBC password and access my email. It is the same email as a paid Yahoo!
Premium account; at no extra charge to SBC Internet customers.

Well, I suppose that is a result of installing the SBC-Y branded software.
Or something like that. I have SBC-Y, but Yahoo! Web Mail is not a choice in
the Internet Properties Programs menu. I did not let SBC-Y send me their
branded browser.

The worst aspect of the SBC Yahoo! deal is the opportunity it gives them to
pass off the trouble onto the partner. In this case, though, I'd bet that
Yahoo! customer service should have the answers. But they don't let you
contact them by telephone; everything is email with them.

I think I would start by taking out everything with Yahoo!, using
"Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. You don't need it. Then repair
MSIE, then reset the web settings. If that doesn't bring it back, follow the
advice on the links PA Bear posted.

SBC Yahoo! is coming close to what AOL and MSN already are, and I would like
to split.

Oh, yeah. They do have groups similar to these MSFT groups. Set up another
News account in MSOE. This time use the SBC Global NNTP server, 'news.
*.sbcglobal.net', where you would replace the '*' with a region.

http://help.sbcglobal.net/article.php?item=287

Use that link to find out what replaces the '*'. I use
'news.sf.sbcglobal.net', as an example. Then subscribe to one, or more, of
the tech help groups. 'sbcglobal.help.tech.browser' might be useful for your
problem, since it is an interaction between the browser and the mailer. But
there may be more action in 'sbcglobal.help.tech.email'. You could cross
post to both, set the followup to just one of the groups. You do need an
SBC-Y account to gain access to those groups, though.
