Navision & Access
Hi, Please help...
I am new to Microsoft Navision, and have a Access database with tables that I use. I am trying to understand how I can connect to MS Navision so that I can build queries from the tables in Navision and the tables in my own database so that I can creater reports from this. How can this be done? can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Jez |

Navision & Access
Hi I have never used navision however I have used Access to access other SQL
databases, firstly I created a dsn file (this may already be there, if not: control panel, administrative tools, data sources, FILE DSN tab. select SQL server and complete the rest of the wizards) this can be done directly through access as well however it didnt work when I tried it. Then in Access go to File, get external data, link tables and select ODBC databases under file type. your DSN file should be in the window that appears select that and you should get a list of all tables from the database. Be carefull who you let use this, as it is the live data and can be deleted and amended. Only people with some knowledge of relational databases should use this.
