Missing Fonts since Office 2003 install
Can anyone tell me why I would lose the Times font,
Helvetica Narrow and Hana font after an Office 2003 install and a reinstall of MS Publisher 2002? If not, where can they be obtained? Thanks, Nate |

Did you look to see if they are anywhere on your system other than the
Windows/Fonts folder? Times New Roman is a standard font. Hana was not part of Pub 2002 (I have Pub 2002 but I don't have that font). Ditto for Helvetica Narrow. Did you had a font named Times instead of Times New Roman? If so, I'm going to suggest that all three fonts were part of another program, not Office. -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] "Nate" wrote in message ... Missing Fonts since Office 2003 install
Fonts are never ever removed or existing fonts interfered with in any way by
an Office or Publisher install. This issue has nothing to do with Publisher or Office 2003. Take your blame theory elsewhere. -- "If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there!" |

Times and Helvetica likely came with your printer.
I don't believe they came with Office. as to why they don't show up... have you looked in the fonts folder and verified that are not there? There's nothing in the installation of any software that will delete fonts. Unfortunately, most installations add them! If you have more than 300 fonts or so activated (fewer than that in W98) then you may have crossed over the line of the number that an be comfortably handled by your system de-active those you don't need. if you can get it down to 300 or so you'll be better off (in the old days running phototypesetters, we were happy as stink to have 16 fonts on line at the same time -- and that included regular, italic, bold, and bold italic as four!) |

If one uses a Font Manager he could have lost the association when he installed 2003.
Font Managers do not install the font in the system, it only creates a shortcut to the font. -- Mary Sauer MS MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://www.mvps.org/msauer/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Mac Townsend" wrote in message ... Missing Fonts since Office 2003 install
Mary,
Thanks for your reply. This employee has Adobe Type Manager Light, as well as the Acrobat suite. I've had a few replies that stated that Office/Publisher installations would not cause fonts to go missing, but I'm not sure if that is the case. I wonder if the issue would be resolved with a reinstall of the Acrobat suite? Nate |

Nate, you have been told and you still question it.
Of course Office/Publisher does not tamper or remove fonts. It will add fonts, but not delete or change any!!! My gawd where does trash like you crawl out from the woodwork. -- "If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there!" |

David,
Did someone steal your gold or something? Nate doesn't deserve your response. Just a suggestion: the next time you feel a need to post something nasty, take a small break. head to your refrigerator and pour a small glass of wine plus cut off a piece of cheese. Sip and nibble on them until they are gone, then hit delete and move on to the next reply. You might find more people will respect you. Missing Fonts since Office 2003 install
FWIW:
Helvetica Narrow is usually found *only* when a user is using a PostScript printer. Additionally, It is usually *only* available as a printer-resident font. [It is/was part of the original / default "PostScript 13" and "PostScript 35" font assortments.] Was your user originally set up to use a PostScript printer, and was that inadvertently changed (to a PCL or GDI printer) during the Office 2003 install? in message ...
